Enhancement of the bond behaviour between sand coated GFRP bar and normal concrete using innovative composite anchor heads

Abstract Anchor heads could efficiently address the bond weakness between Fibre-Reinforced Polymer bars and concrete. This experimental study enhanced behaviour GFRP concrete using three innovative anchorage systems made from glass fibre cloth epoxy resin. A direct pullout test was used to bond-slip performance bar Test variables were diameter (3 diameters), compressive strength (20.4 40.2 MPa), anchor system (three different types). Based on results, in low-strength (i.e. 20.4 MPa) samples, efficiency not promising, failure occurred anchors. However, for higher ultimate developed tensile load increased 14 68% sizes compared unanchored control specimens.
